  • Hakari Alaska Brome

Good drought tolerance! For hay or light grazing. Tall, non-creeping with broad leaves. Very productive and has done well in Pennsylvania and in Midwest trials and has higher digestibility than orchard grass. Forage Analysis in Nov. 99 showed TDN of 90 for Hakari versus 76 for orchardgrass and 91 for ryegrass (at approx. 8 in.). Hakari brome requires special management when grazing! Give it a 3 to 4 week rest period and leave a 3 to 4 inch residual. Cows love it and milk well on it. Hakari brome does require higher fertility than orchardgrass. It works great mixed with alfalfa for hay. It’s easy to mow and is late heading. It will not crowd out alfalfa as much as orchardgrass. It is very fast to establish but long term persistence (over 3 years) is weak. Makes a very soft hay. It likes well drained soil. Seeding rate 8 lbs/acre with 15 lbs alfalfa or a pure stand at 35 lbs/acre.

  • STF-43 Tall Fescue

STF-43 is our best selling tall fescue. STF-43 is an innovative blend of late-maturing, soft-leaved tall fescues. STF-43 produces impressive dry matter yields with exceptional levels of digestible fiber. STF-43 is the result of Barenbrug's forage analyses program which measured NDF (neutral detergent fiber) and NDFd (NDF digestibility). With the lab analyses, Barenbrug identified significant differences in the amount of fiber (NDF) and its digestibility (NDFd) between improved varieties. STF-43 is formulated with varieties to provide exceptional levels of digestible fiber per pound of dry matter fed. Fed to high-producing dairy cows, STF-43 provides energy derived from digestible fiber as well as the valuable effects of fiber which together promote rumen health and productivity, and, in turn animal health and productivity. STF-43 is well suited for hay and haylage/balage production. It is an excellent selection for interseeding with a legume. STF-43 is late maturing and endophyte-free. 50 lb bag. Seeding rate 8-10 lbs with legume, 25-30 alone. SPECIAL PRICE THRU FEB 29TH
