Premium Hay Mixes
Premium hay mixtures designed with improved varieties to produce the very best hay for your operation. The high quality grasses we selected for these mixtures are late maturing, high yielding varieties with high fiber digestibility. Research has shown that stand of 2/3 alfalfa and 1/3 grass can out yield a pure stand of either grass or alfalfa by as much as 40-50%. As grain prices continue to be high, the better our forage stands yield high quality forage, the more we can reduce our need for expensive grain.

Haymaster Premium Grass Mix
NEW! Haymaster is our premium all grass hay mix designed to provide high yields and excellent quality. Excellent with alfalfa or in a stand by itself. The tall fescue varieties in this mix are high yielding with a soft leaf and high fiber digestibility. Tall fescue also has a very deep root system with good drought tolerance. The orchardgrass is very late maturing with great rust resistance. The timothy is a late maturing, hay type timothy. The hay from this mix should dry very easy. Contains 75% tall fescue, 20% orchardgrass and 5% timothy. 50 lb bag. Seeding rate 25-30 lbs/acre by itself or 8-12 lbs/acre with alfalfa. Milkway Forage Grass Mix
NEW! Milkway contains fescue and grass varieties that test and perform very well in the TMR of high producing dairy cows. Milkway contains high yielding meadow fescue and extremely digestible soft leaf tall fescue cultivars from Barenbrug USA. Meadow fescue provides exceptionally high NDFd and thus improved rate of digestion. It does not cause "rumen fill" as it is one of the lowest NDF grasses that can be grown in the Northern USA. Barenbrug soft leaf fescues are world renown for their suitability for dairy TMR due to their low NDF and high NDFd values. Milkway is the ideal grass blend for dairy silage production; it provides stable NDF and NDFd throughout the season so the dairyman can pack different cuttings in the same bunk. Research from University of Wisconsin shows that using Milkway grass blend in dairy TMR can improve milk production 5-15% over traditional TMR diets using wheat straw for effective fiber. Milkway is planted as a monostand (25-30 lbs per acre) and produces high dry matter yields under manure application or with nitrogen fertilizer applications. It is traffic tolerant and can sustain multiple manure applications. Milkway is ideally suited for interplanting with alfalfa (7-8 lbs with 13-15 lbs of alfalfa) as its growing rhythm matches the growth rhythm of alfalfas grown in the Northern US. E2 640 Baralfa X42 Hybrid Alfalfa/Tall Fescue Mixture
We call this mixture E2. It is energy squared, or in other words, the power of two: Barenbrug proprietary grass seed combined with hybrid alfalfa into one effective and labor saving mixture. This synergized mixture boosts energy levels in rations compared to alfalfa alone. Contains 60% Baralfa X42, the next generation of hybrid alfalfa using the msSunstra Hybrid Alfalfa Technology! It features the branch rooted trait to allow it to persist and be productive in poorly drained soils. Baralfa X42 is an aggressive, high forage yielding, high quality alfalfa that expresses fast re-growth with fine stems. This mixture also contains approximately 40% of Barenbrug's highest quality, late-maturing tall fescue. Tall fescue is very high in digestible fiber (energy). Tall fescue also has a very deep root system which provides good drought tolerance and high yields. Haylage Special
Haylage Special is a 65:35 mixture of premium late-heading tall fescue and tetraploid perennial ryegrass. This mix contains Remington, a very winter hardy perennial ryegrass bred in Romania. The high sugar levels in the ryegrass help to ferment the silage quicker to preserve nutrients. Remington also provides highly digestible fiber and energy to the mix. Tall fescue with it's highly digestible fiber (energy) contributes to make this an excellent forage for high producing dairy cows. The tall fescue is very late maturing with high yields and good drought tolerance. Designed to increase forage yield and milk per acre when seeded with alfalfa. Best used on heavier ground with good fertility. Excellent for silage or baleage. Not for dry hay production. 50 lb bag. Highland Hay Mix
Highland Hay mix is a mixture that will handle heat and drought about as good as any mix that we have. Highland hay mix is a late heading mixture of 65% alfalfa, 25% hay type tall fescue and 10% late-heading orchardgrass. A very easy to dry mixture of leafy alfalfa and very high quality grasses for dry hay, silage or baleage. 50 lb bag. Seeding rate of 25-30 lbs/acre.- Drought tolerant

Lowland Hay Mix
Lowland Hay mix tolerates wetter soils and is a mixture of 50% alfalfa (branch root variety), 15% Freedom red clover, 15% hay type Tall Fescue, 10% late heading Orchardgrass, and 10% Timothy. The alfalfa varieties in this mix have a branched root system designed to keep more roots above a high water table. In this mix also is Freedom red clover, an improved red clover with less pubescence so that it is easier drying than other varieties of red clovers. The tall fescue is an endophyte-free variety so it is safe for horses and other livestock. The tall fescue is also for high fiber digestibility (energy) along with high yield. A nice hay mix for heavier soils. An easy to dry mixture designed for dry hay, silage or baleage production. 50 lb bag. Seed at 25-30 lbs/acre.- Tolerates wetter soils

Hay Grazing Mix
Hay Grazing Mix is designed for those fields where the option of making dry hay or grazing is needed. This mix contains 40% alfalfa (grazing tolerant), 25% soft leaf tall fescue, 20% late heading orchardgrass, 5% perennial ryegrass, 5% timothy and 5% improved red clover. This is a mixture designed for both grazing or hay production with improved varieties. Works on a wide variety of soils. 50 lb bag. Seeding rate of 25-30 lbs/acre.- Good for hay & pasture

All Grass Premium Mix
All Grass replaces Alfamate in our line-up and is a premium mixture of 50% Hakari Alaska Brome, 40% late-maturing orchardgrass, and 10% timothy. Makes a very soft, leafy premium grass hay by itself or mixed with alfalfa. The Hakari brome is quick to establish, the orchardgrass and timothy are a little slower. Does best on well drained soils with good fertility. Seed 10-15 lbs with alfalfa or 25-30 lbs by itself.- Easy to dry
