Rye is a very popular cereal grain for cover crops or forage through late fall and early spring. Very aggressive to establish with good winter hardiness. Allelopathy effect from rye suppresses weeds. Cereal rye with its extensive fibrous root system is excellent for mellowing the soil. Rye matures very quickly in the spring. Harvest before "boot stage" for best quality. Yields typically between 1-1/2 to 2 ton DM/acre. 50 lb bags. Seed at 150 lbs/acre.- Winter hardy
