Wildlife Seed Mixes
Everyone enjoys seeing wildlife. Whether it's turkeys strutting their stuff for their lady friends or a huge buck such as this one pictured behind our barn, our wildlife mixes provide nutrition for strong healthy animals and improved habitat. Many of our wildlife seed mixes come from Tecomate, a company that has spent years of research in wildlife food plots. Tecomate Deer Pea Plus
Deer Pea Plus is the result of Tecomate's extensive experience with summer annual food plots. Recognizing the limitations of their existing summer annual product line, their regional agronomist went to work developing a mixture that would better meet the needs of hunters and managers in the Northeast and Midwest. The result is a combination of Ebony (a black-seeded pea, proprietary to Tecomate), Long Juvenile Soybean and Hybrid White Grain Milo. The Ebony establishes in cooler soil temperatures which creates a successful plot earlier in the season. The Long Juvenile Soybeans are not sensitive to day length like most soybeans and may be planted early or late season. The soybean forage production is beneficial but the standing crop of beans provides excellent late season feed for deer and other game. White Grain Milo provides a quick establishing screening and trellising plant for the Ebony plants, and the hybrid grain heads provide a high energy feed for game birds and deer. Forage Feast Chicory
Forage Feast Chicory tends to be very leafy, highly digestible, and bolt resistant. With a deep taproot, forage feast has good drought tolerance and summer production. It also has good winter-hardiness. Recommended seeding rate is 4 - 6 lbs/acre (monoculture) and up to 1 lb. in a pasture mix. Tecomate Monster Mix
Monster Mix, from Tecomate, is a proprietary mixture of white clover, red clover and chicory that is as good for attraction as it is for nutrition. With its unparalleled highly digestible protein, white clover has long been a part of trophy whitetail management throughout the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast. However, the addition of Chicory boosts the overall production and growing season as well as providing plant diversity. Monster Mix withstands heavy browsing pressure, while providing antler-building protein levels over 30% and even higher levels of beneficial phosphorous. In addition, chicory provides tannins that benefit the rumen of deer and elk. Monster Mix lasts for 2-5 years and grows through most of the year. Best of all, Tecomate Monster Mix includes Yellow Jacket seed coating containing moisture retaining Zeba. Tecomate Ultra Forage
Ultra Forage, from Tecomate, contains the Hybrid Forage Brassica variety T-Raptor, clover, and chicory. This mixture combines a New Zealand brassica with clover and chicory for a plot that starts attracting and feeding deer before the frost. T-Raptor establishes quickly and starts attracting deer quicker than other less palatable brassicas, rape or kale. Plus, it produces a bulb that deer will readily dig up for late season energy. T-Raptor has been University tested and is proven to be significantly higher in production than other brassica plants. The annual clovers in Ultra Forage establish quickly and are very palatable to deer providing them with a significant source of protein and early season attraction. The chicory is a good companion crop and will provide spring nutrition after the T-Raptor has been consumed. For better establishment the clovers and chicory are coated with Yellow Jacket seed coating containing Zeba. Packaged in 9 lb bags. Tecomate Upland Game Bird Mix
Upland Game Bird mix, from Tecomate, feeds dove, quail, and pheasants like nothing else on the commercial market. Birds love and need seed producing plants. Tecomate wildlife biologist and agronomist developed a mixture containing Hybrid sunflower from Argentina, Millet from the western US and Hybrid White Grain Milo from Texas. The sunflowers and milo bring in migratory white wing and morning dove while quail thrive on our grain producing millets and milo. Pheasant also make their home in our low tannin milo and sunflower. The combination of the three crops growing together provides more cover and variety than any single monoculture could ever deliver. Eagle Seed Large Lad RRTM
Large Lad RRTM is the official soybean of the Mississippi Fisheries and Wildlife Department. It has dominated numerous forage trials and is known for its excellent bio-mass production and deer browsing tolerance. Large Lad RRTM is Roundup Ready herbicide tolerant, up to 84 inches in height, and is very bushy. This variety is resistant to most foliar diseases, phytophthora root rot, stem canker and several races of nematodes. Eagle Seed Big Fellow RRTM
The Roundup Ready gene in Big FellowTM makes food plot clean up cost effective and simple. The variety is the #1 biomass producer in the Mississippi State University- MS Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station Forage Trial. Big Fellow RRTM has enormous leaf size and bushiness. The variety is drought tolerant. Leaf size can be larger than 8 inches, when irrigated. Big Fellow RRTM has resistance to several races of nematode, foliar disease, and stem canker. Big Fellow is a late-maturing, group 7 variety.
