SF 142 Classic is a premium Soil First™ cover crop mix consisting of Crimson clover and the Soil First Select Radish. A mix that is ideal for use on acres going to corn or other grass crops; research shows positive results inter-seeding into corn at the V3-V6 stage. SF 142 is a simple mix to use also on acres where excess moisture can be an issue or on prevent plant acres.
Planting window: 3-10 weeks before frost
- Seed 12-15 lbs/acre alone with a drill (7.5″ spacing)
- Broadcast/Aerial: 20-25 lbs/acre
- For forage 15-20 lbs/acre
Seeding depth: ¼” to ½″ deep
Comparable setting on drill chart: Alfalfa
Germination soil temperature: 45° F
DM tons/acre: 2-4
Considerations: When seeded early in summer/fall, consider additional grasses to help compete with the quick radish growth. Heavy crimson clover may invite voles.

Termination: Radish will terminate with multiple nights in the teens. If radish survive, glyphosate and 2,4-D have an effective control method. If crimson clover overwinters, control with glyphosate and 2,4-D.
