Northern Summer Forage mix is highly recommended for dairy farmers.  It is a mixture of a dwarf BMR Sorghum x Sudangrass, Green Spirit Italian ryegrass, Hairy Vetch, Berseem and a medium red clover.  Designed for the upper midwest, this product works both in hot summers with the BMR Sorghum x Sudangrass and also in cooler summers with the Italian ryegrass.  An excellent product by itself and also can be used to thicken up a thinning stand of alfalfa.  Highly digestible forage.

Mechanically harvest for silage or baleage at approximately 40 days after seeding and then every 30-40 days thereafter.  If grazing, wait until at least 18-20″ tall or taller.  Leave a minimum of 4″ of stubble for quicker regrowth.

Recommended seeding rate is 35-40 lbs. per acre, drilled 1/2″ to 3/4″ deep when soil temps are 60 degrees or warmer.

Available in a 50 lb. bag.

Seed will be shipped by late March unless other arrangements are made with our office.
