Beans & Greens is a unique annual mix designed to feed your deer through the summer and early fall with a high protein forage mix. High tonnage producing plants that are highly palatable with great heat and drought tolerance.
Contains a blend of forage soybeans, forage peas, Iron & Clay cowpeas, Sunn Hemp, and sunflowers.
A premium non-GMO forage soybean blend. Easy to establish, has large, high protein leaves, is very tall, and has excellent forage yield. Contains no genes for glyphosate or Roundup tolerance. Conventionally bred and capable of reaching heights over six feet. Among the available non-gmo forage soybeans, this blend has higher tonnage as shown in several state university test. Having 30+ nodes means this plant has more height, more leaves and more tonnage. With a group 6 maturity it will be green later into the fall for the deer to browse.
Forage peas that produces extremely high forage quality and very high in crude protein. Huge leaves and excellent palatability. High yielding, early seedling vigor.
Iron and Clay cowpeas are perhaps the most popular peas for warm season plots for deer. Excellent yields, high in protein and productive throughout the summer. They are very tolerant to deer pressure once established and has good regrowth potential.
Sunn Hemp is a rapidly establishing warm season legume. Adapted to a wide range of soils but grows best on well drained soils with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5. Sunn Hemp can produce up to 5,000 lbs of biomass and over 100 lbs. of nitrogen per acre. Sunn Hemp reaches heights of 4 to 6 feet in the northern regions of the U.S. The Sunn Hemp stalks also provide a place for the peas to vine up.
Sunflowers are very high in protein and offer deer a unique food source that your neighbors likely won’t have. Highly attractive to deer when the plants are young and tender. Deer will go out of their way to feast on young sunflower plants.
